What types of medical aide one can be after attaining medical assistant training?

As per the statistics, the employment growth rate for medical aide candidates has drastically increased and is expected to grow more in the coming years.

The job task of medical assistant is quite hectic, as he has to carry out many essential duties in the health care center or in the office of chiropractors or podiatrists.

However, the duties would vary depending on the location and state, also sometimes on the size of the staff working in a health care center (a medical assistants working in a small office would have to handle both clinical and administrative duties, as well as report to the physician, whereas an assistant who is working in a big hospital might not have to carry out all the duties, as there would be a huge staff present).

Besides this, there is another major factor that contributes to the job tasks of a medical helper is the education of a candidate. A person who has completed his course and has taken up medical assistant training would definitely get more job opportunities and a good salary, as compared to a candidate who has a simple degree.

A candidate who has the responsibility of administrative duties, he needs to carry front office duties. In this, he has to greet patients, schedule patient’s appointments, fill their forms, ask about their medical histories, store their data, maintain records and fill out patient’s insurance forms.

Clinical medical assistants

Being a clinical medical assistant, one has to carrying various duties but which are not comprise of front office tasks. Duties that are under the clinical medical aide comprise of taking patients to examination room, recording patient’s vital signs, collect and then prepare lab specimens, sterilize medical instruments, dispose contaminated supplies, and even sometimes perform basic lab tests.

Ophthalmic medical assistants

A candidate who has extra ordinary abilities he gets an opportunity to perform additional duties and responsibilities. An ophthalmic medical assistant has prime job task to perform professional eye care. They need to check the patient’s vision, functioning of his eye muscles and conduct various diagnostic tests.

Besides this, they also teach patients some things like how to take care of their eyes, care when they are using contact lenses and dos and don'ts that are must to be followed when it comes to eye care. They may also have to assist the ophthalmologist while performing the operation.

Besides all the aforementioned three types of career field, a candidate who would have attained good education and certification in this respective course would definitely get good job opportunities and a good living.
